Our Goals and Objectives
As a cooperative of invested organizations, the Chippewa Watershed Alliance will continue in a collective approach to water quality improvement through restoration and outreach. By creating the foundation required, ICD will establish funding mechanisms for the implementation of multi-agency projects.
Goal:
Formalization of the CRWA serves to establish an effective multi-agency alliance to improve restoration implementation and public outreach efforts.
Objectives:
-
Coordinate the project and define activities that will support capacity building and group training opportunities.
-
Establish the Chippewa River Watershed Alliance as a recognized entity for the benefit of the Chippewa River.
-
Use a professional group facilitator to assist the CRWA to define our mission, goals, and Strategic Plan.
-
Develop and distribute outreach material using traditional and electronic formats.
-
Facilitate a website to serve as a tool for interested stakeholders, including the public to learn about the Chippewa River watershed.
-
Expand community outreach, including Environmental Justice communities, focusing on the relationship with the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe and rural communities.
The Alliance has accomplished many successful watershed projects over the years. Formalizing the Alliance and meeting our proposed objectives will help further our goal of developing a Watershed Management Plan for the Chippewa River and continue to further improve the water quality in the watershed.
Partner Responsibilities
The Alliance meets quarterly, and necessary sub-committees are formed to address specific needs. Through joint efforts, partnering organizations will assist with projects and help watershed planners obtain, organize, and develop the necessary information to develop an approved Watershed Management Plan for the Chippewa River. The Alliance provides the structure necessary to develop cooperative funding proposals for implementation.
